My journey
After my medical studies, I spent my first two years of surgical training at the University Hospital of Charleroi, Belgium (2010-2012).
During this period, I had a particular affinity for visceral surgery, especially colorectal and bariatric surgery.
After passing the basic surgical examination, I moved to Geneva in 2012. Finally,
I finished my training as a surgeon there in October 2016, with the title of FMH in general surgery.
Afterwards, I became Chief of Clinic in General Surgery (visceral, thoracic and vascular) at the Centre Hospitalier du Valais Romand, and developed a particular interest in colorectal, bariatric and parietal surgery.
The end of my specialised training in coloproctology and bariatric surgery at the University Hospitals of Geneva has allowed me to continue my training in both practice and clinical research.
In addition, several clinical research protocols have been accepted as first or last investigator:
- Prophylactic Negative-pressure wound therapy for prevention of surgical side infection.
- Risk of colonic tumour in the context of diverticular disease by microbiome analysis.
- The risk of post left colectomy oncological complication by preoperative microbiome analysis.
- Early outcome in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver in comparison with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis undergoing gastric bypass: a propensity score matched analysis.
I will soon receive my Privat-Docent. The subject of my thesis for this academic title will be
"The diagnosis and management of diverticulitis, myth or reality".
